A bit of perspective on the sentencing of Chelsea Manning (born Bradley Manning).
It always amazes me how people can get this frustrated over things which are this overt but still refuse to imagine a world outside of the political organization of the modern liberal capitalist republic
this is not a failure of our political system.
it is exactly what it’s set up to do. power does not move. social change does not affect social organization and rule because that organization and rule is centralized rather than socialized.
this is literally what this is meant to do. legislatures are bodies specifically set up to remove choice and power from the people.
this is not a surprise, it is the design
On June 2nd, there was a large house fire at Morningview drive, in San Antonio, Texas. 3 children were staying at their grandparents house, when a fire started from an unknown cause. The grandparents managed to rescue 2 children from the house, and accidentally left a nine month old boy.
Shortly thereafter, the father of the children arrived, and immediately attempted to go inside the burning house to rescue his nine month old son. However, police interfered with his will in this life or death situation, and went as far as to tase him for trying to save his own son. He was tased, and sadly, the infant did not make it.
The adrenaline, and pure loving determination to save his son would have made it a high possibility that he would have been able to save him, but the police disrespected his will, and used extreme force against him, preventing him from doing something that will probably taunt him the rest of his life.
This is a very sickeningly unfortunate event, and it is a very potent indicator of the mechanical, dysfunctional, disrespectful, and forceful characteristics of the police, the enforcement class of our out of control government.
The police of the United States tend to not know anything about the government they serve, except for what they hear from mainstream media.
The police, to speak collectively for a moment, have a mixed up, partially developed moral perspective, and desperately need an awakening, a large amount of information about who makes the laws they enforce, and how a society can be policed the right way. I’m talking of course, about a voluntary society, where the only people who are forcefully locked in a cage, are people who were using force against others.
The goal of this is not to insult or offend police officers, but to illustrate as clearly as possible, that they have no right to disrespect the will of people like this, and no one would disrespect them if they respected the people. It takes a situation as unfortunate as this, for some people to realize that blind faith in authority will lead to bad results every time.
Their increasing brutality is a natural outcome and reflection of our property worshiping, might makes right, war-hungry, individualist, militarized, racist, classist, national ethos. And as our economy continues to crash and sink, they—fist of the rich—will more and more aggressively claw and pummel at us.
From the CNN article: “North Carolina’s governor says he agreed to repeal a law that allowed inmates to challenge their death sentences on racial grounds because it effectively banned capital punishment in the state.”
I will never be over the asinine logical fuckery that this man just espoused.
If appealing to the racially-based INJUSTICE that landed you on death row effectively bans capital punishment in the state then maybe the state should adopt a less piece-of-shit judicial process. And while they’re at it, impeach that racist asshole of a governor.
US foreign policy summed up by Spongebob
He was injured in the blast and was running away like everyone else. But a bystander thought that was suspicious and tackled him. Police grilled him and ransacked his apartment. The new York post calls him a suspect immediately. Drudgereport links it under a screaming headline. World media pick it up. Everyone thinks he’s behind it. But. It’s. Just. Not. True.
I like how an innocent, injured, and scared man was tackled by bystanders, taken into custody, and defamed in the international media just for his skin color and his audacity to run from a fucking bombing and this warrants one tiny paragraph in an article about how “vigilant” they’re being in their investigation.
This is post-racial Amerikkka!
god I can’t imagine how terrifying that must have been for that guy. trauma upon trauma upon trauma.
white people this is why nobody trusts you
oh my god…the poor thing.
Edit: 11:43pm, 4/16/13: this article has been edited since I reblogged it and it does not say that it was edited.
I’ve been trying to find a good source on wtf happened/is happening but the other source I reblogged has changed as well. I think CNN has the best one (that I’ve seen), so I’m going to include a link to theirs: http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/15/us/boston-marathon-things-we-know/index.html?hpt=us_t3
This is happening right now in my country Venezuela. All around the country Militaries are killing people just because we are defending what is Good. We want justice! We were doing a pacific protest and then they came and started to shoot and use gas against people and the government says that people need to show respect for the militaries. People are being seriously injured and murdered. Respect? Democracy? Peace? NICOLAS YOU ARE NOT MY PRESIDENT YOU COWARD.
GUYS PLEASE RB, I KNOW THAT EVERYONE IS WORRIED ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING IN BOSTON BUT WE ARE ABOUT TO GO ON A CIVIL WAR IN VENEZUELA!!
THEY JUST MADE MADURO TAKE THE OATH AS PRESIDENT, THEY’RE BURNING THE BALLOT BOXES, AND THEY’RE LEAVING THE COUNTRY WITH ALL THE PEOPLE’S MONEY
Let’s add to that that no International entity recognizes the election’s results and are asking for a recount, yet the CNE allowed Maduro to take the oath (wich was supposed to be on the 19th). The CNE’s president is leaving the country now.
We’re officially in a dictatorship.
A spokesperson for the Boston Police Department said no suspects have been taken into custody yet after the bombing at the Boston Marathon. “At this time, we haven’t been notified of any arrests or anyone apprehended,” the spokesperson said. The New York Post reported that a “Saudi national who suffered shrapnel wounds in today’s blast” has been identified as “a suspect” in the Boston Marathon bombing.” The Boston PD spokesperson did not confirm that report.“Honestly, I don’t know where they’re getting their information from, but it didn’t come from us,” said the spokesperson.
This kickass lady (and Kansas state representative) really said that.
I’m so glad she stood up and said this, but not so glad she had to.
As someone who immigrated to the US as a child, the only differences between me and most of the so-called “illegal” immigrant youth under scrutiny are the opportunities afforded to our parents based on race and class. If you think I have “more right” to be here despite doing literally nothing to deserve it, please reconsider, or take that opinion elsewhere.
A version for tumblr that can be read without opening a new tab, since plenty of people would scroll past this story otherwise.
Please, please, please. If you don’t know who Malala is, what she’s been through in the last several months, and why she represents the freedom and education of women and girls everywhere, start by reading this comic. It’s chilling and visceral and fucking beautiful.
This girl is my hero.
i could never be a politician because every time it was my turn to talk in a debate it would start off with “listen you fucking prick” like idk how these people don’t do this
